So in classic Crista style I tried to help out another person that I hardly new.
In June I met Mikey. If I could take that day back I so totally would. I was hanging out with my friend Cindy and her bf Danny and one of their friends came over.
All night he kept talking about how crazy the girl he was living with was and that he needed to find a different place to live.
At some point during the night Cindy asked me about when A and the baby were going to move out. Mikey immediately offered to move in. I was kind of weary about it but I told him what the expenses would be and have him my number.
My path of logic was that it would be just the same as putting an ad in the paper for a roommate.
Here goes Crista getting ready to let another jerk take advantage of her.
Mikey can't get a cellphone because of his credit.
Should have been a warning sign to kick him out before he gets a chance to screw you.
But no Crista being the trusting idiot that she is gets him a cellphone on her plan.
E came back and didn't like the situation with Mikey and made no effort to be nice to him. Especially after he bounced a rent check to me mom and got a month behind on paying me for bills and kept making excuses about the bank paying someone else's bills from his account.
Mikey decided to move out right before I had come to the decision to tell him to get out. He told me he was going to talk to the bank the next day and get me the money he owed me and he would like to keep the phone and make sure to pay me before the phone bill was due.
I was willing to give him a chance to make things right.
No matter how many times I get screwed I still have faith in people.
As would have been expected he didn't produce the money. So I called and reported the phone as stolen and had it turned off. Before the month was over I went into the corporate store to have the line disconnected permanetly.
To do this they had to reconnect the line to separate the accounts so that my phone didn't get turned off too. The brilliant manager that turned the phone back on didn't turn it back off. So Mikey must have started getting texts or phone calls again.
Today I am going through my emails and pulled up the monthly newsletter for Verizon and decided to pull up my account. The jerk ran up a $550 phone bill. After E spent my lunch hour being told that Mikey had called and got the line reactivated even though my account was password protected and that if we thought the line shouldn't have been turned back on we would have to file a police report.
E flipped and asked for a manager. After being on hold for about 15 minutes and me having to take my phone and head back to work Kevin finally put his manager on the phone and she was able to tell me what had really happened and said that she would credit the charges made from his line.
Hopefully, I have finally learned my lesson. And will stop trusting people without making them prove that they are trustworthy.
