more thoughts from Sept. 11,2001

”After the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, which killed six and injured 1,000, President Clinton promised that those responsible would be hunted down and punished. "

"After the 1995 bombing in Saudi Arabia, which killed five U.S. military personnel, Clinton promised that those responsible would be hunted down and punished."

"After the 1996 Khobar Towers bombing in Saudi Arabia, which killed 19 and injured 200 U.S. military personnel, Clinton promised that those responsible would be hunted down and punished."

"After the 1998 bombing of U.S. embassies in Africa, which killed 224 and injured 5,000, Clinton promised that those responsible would be hunted down and punished."

"After the 2000 bombing of the USS Cole, which killed 17 and injured 39 U.S. sailors, Clinton promised that those responsible would be hunted down and punished."

”Maybe if Clinton had kept his promise, an estimated 7,000 people would be alive today.”

This question was raised on a Philly radio call-in show. Without casting stones, it is a legitimate question.

I know there are people that still to this day support Bill Clinton and the things that he did accomplish while he was in office. I am not saying that he didn’t have his good moments as our President. We as a people did elect him, two terms in a row. He must have been doing something right. And I am not in any way blaming his broken promises for the occurrence on September 11, 2001, but this was an interesting way to think of this situation.

What was different with all those other attacks that didn’t cause such a rise with the Americans here in the States? I personally only remembered the 93 bombing of the WTC, the 98 bombing of the U.S embassies in Africa and the bombing of USS Cole. What was different about the other attacks that allowed me to forget they even happened? Does our reaction to a situation depend so highly on how much it is covered by the media. I remember the 98 bombing because that was when the news interested me because of my senior government classes, and I watched stuff about that on the news. I remember the bombing of the USS Cole, because I worked at the News Paper, and I read the articles about it. Does remembering these things rely on the media? Would our reaction to September 11th have been different if it had gotten a small write up in the local newspapers, instead of days of TV coverage?

I am just ranting now. I don’t want to offend any of the wonderful democrats that possibly read my diary, but as a republican I do hold slightly different views.
