03 January 2003
3 January 2003 Packed the car, had lunch at McDonald’s with grandma and papa and headed out of town. I didn’t cry nearly as much as I usually do because I didn’t see my dad shed any tears. I knew he was going to, his eyes were all watery when he hugged me goodbye, but he didn’t cry inside McDonald’s. We drove as far as Glendive Montana, we stayed in the cheapest Days Inn I have ever seen. Dad recommended a little café down the road, but by the time we got the car unloaded and the cats in the room it was almost 9:30 and it was closed. We drove down the road a while longer and busted into a Dairy Queen as they were trying to close. We said we would leave but they went ahead and took our orders. Some girl that didn’t even work there was behind the counter and she freaked out about my tongue piercing. She thinks it is very cute and it looks so much nicer with the shorter barbells, because you can’t play with them as much and act like you are showing off. Most people don’t notice mine unless they are shorter than me and I have to look down at them to make eye contact, or when I yawn, (which I do an awful lot of.) I had a terrible time getting to sleep, Jennifer was watching Real World Las Vegas until 2am with the TV blaring away and it was super windy and it decided to rain and pound against the window and the room was too hot. It wasn’t a very good night.
