My friend Sarah from work has been totally in love with this guy that comes into Starbucks religiously for coffee. He is older than us, he was just promoted to Fire Inspector out at the Air Force Base, not exactly what I would call super attractive, so I am kind of thinking that Sarah likes him so much because he isn't like any of the other boyfriends she has had. He is a nice guy and has a good job and he doesn’t act as if money is a big issue with him. (Sarah's dad works for the railroad and makes big bucks.)

On the 17th while he was in for coffee he starts talking to me and tells me that I should go to his movie.

"What movie?"

"Ole and Lena. I am an extra in it, they told me that I am actually in a few scenes."

Sarah: "When is it?"

Cory: "I am going to the 7 o'clock show Friday night."

Sarah: "creeksta we should totally go!"

"I have to work Friday night, but if I can find someone to take my shift we are there."

Cory: "I will look for you there then."

I found someone to take my shift so we were going to the movie. Cory came in one day when I wasn't at work and Sarah said that I was the only other person that she could get to go to the show with her, so it was just going to be the two of us. Then one night when I was covering a break over in Starbucks Cory comes in, I get his coffee and we start talking. "So, I hear you are going to be at the movie Friday night."

"Yeah Sarah and I are planning on going, you are still going to be there right?"

"The 7 o'clock show."

"Then maybe we will see you there."

Sarah had all these big plans for the night, I was supposed to get his phone number from him for her and I was supposed to give her a ride to the movie so that after the show I could make up some excuse about having to work early in the morning and being too tired to give Sarah a ride home and ask Cory if he would mind taking her home.

It was all total craziness and I felt like I was still in High School.

I had Monday off and when Sarah called to ask me to come over for dinner she tells me that Paula asked her to work Friday night from 5 pm to 12 am to help do production for all the graduation party orders. Sarah thought that I should go to the show by myself so that I could tell Cory that she liked him, but I won't even go out to eat on my own, I would never go to a movie on my own.

I didn't go to the movie, because Sarah really likes him, and since the night that he invited me to the movie I have been afraid that he liked me, and I don't want to hurt Sarah, plus I have a boyfriend.

Tonight I am at work in the Deli here comes Cory. Usually he just grabs his sandwich and then pays for his stuff in Starbucks. Tonight he has some bubble wrap and a little mailing envelope so I make little conversation about what he is mailing (habit from working in Starbucks, you have to make conversation with every guest.) He tells me some story about some badges for work they sent the wrong ones and he has to send them back but they can't be damaged or he won't get his $17 apiece back. I give him his chicken tenders and ring up his stuff.

"I didn't see you at the movie on Friday."

"After Sarah begged me to give up my shift and I finally found someone to take it she got talked into working Friday night and I didn't want to go by myself. I think we are going tomorrow night though. Are we going to be able to tell it is you in the movie?"

"Yeah, I am in five or six scenes, I'll show you my bald spot so you will be able to recognize me."

"So was the movie any good?"

"It was pretty cheesy, I guess it could have been worse."

I'm not sure how the conversation ended, Kristen may have told me to go take my lunch so she could take hers when I got back. She is on the Curves Diet so she gets real bitchy when she is hungry.

Sarah was still at the TSC talking to the operator when I went to clock out for lunch. "Sarah, guess who is here, and guess who just got in trouble for not being somewhere Friday night?"

Sarah starts freaking out, then decides she has to go get Starbucks so she can talk to him. But she can't because she over slept and didn't have time to shower or put on makeup before work so she looks like crap.

Liz (the operator) finally convinces her that we should go out there after she gets condensed version of the story. Sarah likes this boy and he invited me to this movie and Sarah invited herself to come along, then I have to give up my shift even though I don't have a rich daddy and then she picks up a shift that night and we ended up standing this boy up and I just got yelled (not really) at for it.

Sarah gathers her purse and we walk back out into the store, her face turns the same shade as her red Target shirt and she decides to hide behind the wall. By the time we get over to Starbucks Cory has his drink and is walking away. We walk up, Cory points to Sarah, "You!"

Sarah: "I'm sorry, it was really important for me to work that night so this weekend wouldn't be as crazy as last weekend. We are going to the movie tomorrow night after I get off work.

creeksta: "You should come with us." Still being the loyal friend and trying to play matchmaker unsuccessfully.

Cory: "I've already seen it, I don't need to go again."

A group of people started heading toward Starbucks so Cory decided to leave and Sarah and I got our drinks so we could go back to the break room.

Liz: "How did it go?"

Sarah: "He doesn't like me. He likes creeksta, but she has a boyfriend..."

Liz: "You have a boyfriend, why do I not know that you have a boyfriend?"

creeksta: "I don't talk about him very much, he is in Mexico, and it has been a long time since I have seen him."

Liz: "You didn't meet him online did you?

creeksta: "No, I met him at school back in Wyoming." (I'm still not sure how this issue became about my relationship with Nathan and how I shouldn't be waiting around for a boy that I haven't seen in almost 2 years, when there is a guy here that seems to be interested in me. Liz thinks she is going to work on that.)

Once again I am not sure how the conversation ended, I was just glad that it had so I could go drink my frappuccino and eat my dinner.

So another night will pass and we will not be seeing this movie, because Sarah has decided that she doesn't want to see it because she doesn't like him anymore because he likes me and I am going to have to live through another night like this one because if he really does like me he may just show up at the theatre because I invited him to come with us and then we aren't going to show up again because Sarah has decided that she doesn't want to now.

Now I wish he would have come over to the deli and talked to us last Tuesday so I could have carried out my plans to invite him to The Matrix Reloaded with us and at least then we may have really found out which one of us he liked or if Sarah had a chance with him. But as it is I feel bad enough thinking that he was being all friendly with Sarah, because he liked me. I don't want to know that really was the case.

Why is it that the people I have become friends with up here are so hard to be friends with?
